Here are answers to questions that are commonly asked about our lifelike DuraRock™ fake rock covers and enclosures, the most realistic, affordable and durable artificial rock products available today for covering pond filters and pumps, irrigation and backflow valves, utility boxes, septic tank lids and other unsightly items.
Hollow and open at the bottom, beautiful DuraRocks™ landscape accents are manufactured in the USA from a 100% recyclable industrial-grade, high-density polyethylene composite that is 1/4" thick. The DuraRock™ formula features modern UV inhibitors for maximum protection from the elements and is integrally enhanced with a unique blend of gritty crushed mineral stone for a dramatically more realistic appearance than fake rocks made in the past from smooth fiberglass that shines unnaturally
DuraRocks™ are extremely lightweight to allow for easy access to concealed objects, but are strong enough to be stood upon and won't chip, crack, break or wear down due to the elements (plastic line trimmers aren't a problem either).
DuraRock™ covers and enclosures have earned their reputation for being the most affordable and durable artificial rock products available today for covering pond filters and pumps, irrigation and backflow valves, utility boxes, septic tank lids and other unsightly items.
Our lifelike fake rocks ship to your doorstep via FedEx Ground (except the largest models LB2103, LB2104 and LB2114 which ship on a pallet via common carrier) and usually arrive within two weeks of being ordered.
Measure the item you want to conceal carefully and accurately since our DuraRocks™ cannot be returned unless damaged in shipping. In the unlikely event this occurs, and the claim is confirmed after the rock's inspection by FedEx Ground or a freight company representative, it will be replaced immediately with an identical model.
Contact us if you need to confirm whether a specific DuraRock™ model will hide your object.
It's important to note that the dimensions shown for each DuraRock™ model are exterior--not interior--measurements and taken at the base. The height measurement is the highest point of each irregularly-shaped fake rock cover and enclosure. To understand how much usable interior space there is, please refer to the drop-down menu Size Chart on the order page to see the most common dimensions for items that each DuraRock™ model can hide.

Most importantly, the DuraRock™ formula is also integrally enhanced with a unique blend of gritty crushed mineral stone for a dramatically more natural appearance than fake rocks made years ago from smooth fiberglass that shines unnaturally.
DuraRocks™ are specifically designed to be lightweight to allow for easy access to concealed objects. Heavy-duty plastic security stakes are shipped with each model to anchor them, if deemed necessary in local conditions, to the ground using flanges on the bottom edges. Customers who want even more security will often dig holes in the ground below where the flanges are located on their DuraRock(s)™ which they'll fill with quick-drying cement, embed a short piece of chain from their local hardware store in the cement where it will set and dry in place, and then loop a cable or another piece of chain through the cemented chain and the hole in the DuraRock™ flange which can be locked.
Helpful Installation Tip! For added realism, we recommend burying the boulder's bottom edge and stake flanges below ground level or covering them with mulch, soil or gravel so they can't be readily seen by passersby.
Although they're not designed to be play equipment for children, the DuraRocks™ are generally structurally strong enough to hold the weight of a child or young adult without being physically damaged should they be scrambled over by one.
Absolutely! After ordering and receiving your DuraRock,™ visit www.AddressNumbers.com and select a style from their wide selection of quality and affordable address and welcome plaques which will fit the surface area and preferred side on the rock you purchased.
Then, mark and drill small holes with a standard metal bit in the wall of the DuraRock™ to mount the plaque from the front and tighten the screws down with nuts and washers from underneath and inside the rock for the perfect functional landscape accent.
Absolutely! If the item you want to cover needs air circulation to prevent heat build-up, you can drill small holes with a standard metal bit in the walls of opposing sides of the rock to allow cross-ventilation.
Ventilation requirements for common items include wells (1/2 sq. inch), septic vent pipe (2 sq. inches), pumps (consult pump product manual), utilities (talk with your utility provider), and backflow prevention devices (refer to local codes).
Note: Heat generated by a pump or motor being concealed by one of our fake cover rocks will not affect the boulder. Since polyethylene is a thermoset plastic, it won't melt when exposed to high temperatures.
A Sawzall or similar type of reciprocating-motion saw with the proper blade can be used by a skilled operator if needed to cut a hole in any DuraRock™ for a cord, switch or other custom purpose.
The amount of time it normally takes to receive an order is 7 to 10 business days.
A 5-year, 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is offered if the craftsmanship or material is found to be defective in any way (with the exception of incidents of vandalism or acts of God). Customers with a valid craftsmanship claim will receive an immediate replacement with an identical model once the product is returned and/or the claim confirmed.
We offer such a broad selection that we rarely hear from customers who can't find the right size fake rock cover. If it does happen, unfortunately the process we use for creating our lifelike custom molds using textures from actual boulders is expensive and time-consuming so we are unable to take requests for custom sizes or shapes apart from our current collection of faux rocks.
